Uzbekistan agrees 94% of state border with Kyrgyzstan

Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan Ibrahim Zhunusov announced that the commission on delimitation and demarcation has agreed on more than 94% of the state border between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The delimitation of the remaining 6% of the state border continues. The total length of borders between the countries is 1.378 km.
During the reign of President Islam Karimov in Uzbekistan, the issue of border delimitation was suspended, and some disputed sections of the border were mined. After Shavkat Mirziyoyev came to power, the process of demarcation and delimitation of the state border began.
"Despite the pandemic, last 2020 trade between the two states increased by 10% compared to 2019, while reaching a record $ 903 million, and in January-June of this year it amounted to $ 508 million," Zhunusov said.
