Uzbekistan-Bangladesh: First round of political consultations

The first round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the People's Republic of Bangladesh was held on March 14, 2022 in Tashkent.

The delegations were led by Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov and First Deputy Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Masoud Momen.

It should be noted that the political consultations are being held for the first time in the history of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The delegations discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between the two countries in political, trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The sides exchanged views on cooperation within the UN and other multilateral structures.

It was noted that it is important to expand the legal framework for cooperation. In this regard, an agreement was reached to establish working groups with the participation of representatives of relevant ministries and departments.

Special attention was paid to the development of economic diplomacy through the establishment and expansion of contacts between business entities, the creation of favorable conditions for mutual trade and the implementation of joint investment projects.
