Uzbekistan establishes diplomatic relations with the 140th country

Uzbekistan has established diplomatic bond with another Caribbean country, St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

On May 10, in New York, the two countries' permanent representatives to the UN, Bakhtiyor Ibragimov and Inga Ronda King, signed a joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The parties reaffirmed their interest in strengthening cooperation within international organizations, including the UN and its specialized agencies.

The islands are located in the western part of the Caribbean. The country is actively involved in the activities of the UN, was a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council from 2020 to 2021, and from 2018 to 2019 was the chairman of the Economic and Social Council of the organization.

From January 1, 2020, Uzbekistan has introduced a 30-day visa-free regime for citizens of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

“These two countries are geographically far apart, belonging to different cultures and religions. However, they are now linked by diplomatic ties that are a true symbol of the UN,” said Inga Ronda King.

Additionally, it was mentioned that he has been working as a diplomat in New York for almost 9 years and has witnessed the rapid development of Uzbekistan over the past five years, including its active and deep participation in the UN process.

The signing of this document represents a significant step forward in Uzbekistan's cooperation with Caribbean countries.
