Uzbekistan imports electricity from Tajikistan

It is reported that since January 18 this year, electricity has been supplied to a number of districts of Surkhandarya Region via Tajikistan. The districts have been supplied with 220 kV from the Regar-500 substation of the neighbouring country.
In order to ensure uninterrupted electricity supplies during the abnormally cold winter, Surkhandarya Oblast installed additional electricity supplies from Tajikistan, the press office of the Surkhandarya regional branch of the Territorial Electric Grid said.
On January 18, electric power consumers of 70 percent of Shurchin, Altynsay, Kumkurgan, Dzharkurgan districts, 90 percent of Bandikhon, Kyzylorda, Sherabad districts and Boysun district, along with Sariasi, Uzun-Denov districts received 220 kV L-Regar-Zarchop and L-regar-zarchop from the Tajik substation Regar-500. Sherabad transmission lines are energised through it.
30 percent of electricity consumers in Termez, Jarkurgan district, 10 percent in Muzrabat, Angora, Sherabad districts and the city of Termez are supplied with voltage through Uzbekistan with a load of 196 MW.
The wire carrying capacity in each of the 220 kW L-regar-zarchop and L-regar-sherabad transmission lines originating from the Tajik substation Regar-500 is rated at 250 MW.
