Uzbekistan - India: Cooperation in the field of agriculture

On July 28 of this year, within the framework of the visit of the government delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to India, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade J.Khodjaev held talks with the Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare of India Narendra Singh.
During the meeting, it was noted that the two countries have succeeded in diversifying trade in the agricultural sector over the past few years, but there are still untapped opportunities.
The parties agreed on the need to increase the volume of trade by creating additional favorable conditions for the mutual penetration of the products of local agricultural producers into the markets of the two countries.
Uzbekistan has submitted phytosanitary permits for the import of 6 Indian products, including bananas, mangoes, soybeans and rice. In turn, the Indian side is considering the possibility of allowing Uzbek agro-industrial products such as grapes, pomegranates, apples, dates, peppers, tomatoes, almonds and watermelons.
