Uzbekistan is a country of great thinkers and scientists

On August 18, on the second day of his state visit to Saudi Arabia, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Khusayn Ibrakhim Tokha in Jeddah.
Today, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is one of the largest international organizations in the world, uniting 57 countries with a population of 1.7 billion. Since Uzbekistan became a member of the OIC in 1996, trade-economic, scientific and cultural cooperation with the organization has been developing consistently.
At the meeting, it was noted that this prestigious international structure plays an important role in preserving Islamic values, strengthening solidarity and economic relations between Muslim nations in the face of current threats.
The current level of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OIS, prospects for further expansion in all relevant areas were highly appreciated.
Khusayn Ibrakhim Tokha noted that Uzbekistan holds a special place in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and fully supports the projects and programs promoted by our country. The Ministers of Tourism of the OIC countries congratulated Khiva on being declared the "Tourism Capital of the Islamic World" in 2024.
It was noted that from now on, Uzbekistan will pay special attention to cooperation with OIC in the fields of education, science, innovation, climate change issues. It was agreed to exchange experience among the OIC member countries in important social directions, such as strengthening the family institution, strengthening the participation of women in public life and state administration.
"Uzbekistan is a country of great thinkers and scientists, our organization is interested in cooperation with your republic in these areas," said the general secretary.
At the end of the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan invited the Secretary General to visit our country. Khusayn Ibrakhim Tokha gladly accepted this offer.
