Uzbekistan-Japan: Justice cooperation

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov, on a visit to Tokyo, met with the Minister of Justice of Japan Ken Saito. The sides exchanged views on enhancing the Uzbek-Japanese cooperation in judicial sphere.
Ken Saito gave a positive evaluation of the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan to raise the efficiency of public administration, modernize law-making processes, ensure implementation of legislation, improve mechanisms of dialogue with the people and strengthen public oversight.
In particular, the sides noted the interest of the sides in exchanging experience and information on law enforcement practices and best practices in conducting investigative and operational activities. Proposals have been considered to sign a memorandum between the two public prosecutor's offices, to establish cooperation between educational institutions for training law enforcement personnel. Special attention was paid to the prospects of cooperation in the sphere of migration.
An agreement has been reached on elaborating and adopting an action plan on Uzbek-Japanese cooperation in the above-mentioned areas.
