Uzbekistan-Japan: Memorandum of Cooperation on Environmental Protection

During the meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov and Minister of Environmental Protection of Japan Akihiro Nishimura the Memorandum on cooperation in the field of environmental protection was signed between the State Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The meeting was opened by a member of the League of Friendship of Friendship of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Japan.

At the beginning of the meeting the member of the Japan-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship League A. Nishimura said that he was surprised with the results of measures taken in our country on environmental protection, fighting against climate change, use of water resources and introduction of renewable energy sources.

The sides welcomed signing of the memorandum on cooperation under the Joint Credit Mechanism in Tashkent in October, which envisages attraction of Japanese investments to accelerate implementation of green technologies and decarbonization process in Uzbekistan.

Japan is ready to continue assisting Uzbekistan in dealing with the consequences of the Aral Sea, including through participation in the Multi-Partner Trust Fund for Human Security in the Aral Sea.
