Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan: multilateral cooperation development

On September 26 this year, negotiations took place in extended format between the delegations of the two countries headed by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev and Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serik Jumangarin. The meeting was also attended by heads of relevant ministries and agencies, industry associations of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

The current issues on the agenda of bilateral cooperation as well as further activities for its expansion have been discussed during the talks. The sides noted the existence of ample opportunities for the development of bilateral relations and expressed willingness to take all the measures to fully use them.

In particular, issues of industrial cooperation development have been addressed. They agreed to elaborate, as soon as possible, the design and estimate documentation for organizing external and internal infrastructure of the International Center for Industrial Cooperation (ICC) as well as the respective intergovernmental agreement regulating the ICC activities.

At the discussion the parties considered the possibility of implementing joint projects in the territories of the two countries in automotive industry, production of phosphate and complex mineral fertilizers, as well as in electrotechnical industry.

Expansion of cooperation in the sphere of pharmaceutical production and agriculture was also discussed. In view of the diversification of railways and roads and the increase in the number of flights between the two countries, prospects of cooperation in the sphere of transport and logistics were also considered.

The sides also discussed issues of organizing the next 20th meeting of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and the 4th Joint Interregional Forum in Tashkent.
