Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan: Strong cooperation in the textile industry

Due to the strong ties between the Kyrgyz and Uzbek textile enterprises, extensive reforms are being carried out in areas such as manufacturing, investment, fashion and exhibitions.

Kyrgyzstan is the third largest consumer of Uzbek textiles. Over the past three years, exports amounted to $ 771.8 million, and in January-February 2022, exports amounted to $ 67.3 million.

Special attention is paid to the development of cross-border cooperation with Kyrgyzstan. In particular, work is underway to export the products of enterprises located in border areas to Kyrgyzstan and to attract qualified specialists to the textile enterprises of the two countries.

Currently, Art Soft Holding, based in Namangan region, produces cotton ginning plant, yarn and ready-to-wear garment factory, machine-tractor park, and oil and gas plant in Nookent district of Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan at a total cost of $ 25 million. It is planned to implement a project to establish a cotton-textile cluster, which will include a plant.

In addition, the Uzbek Textile Industry Association has established extensive contacts with textile organizations in Kyrgyzstan. Bilateral memoranda of understanding were signed. As part of them, Kyrgyz partners are visiting Uzbekistan and actively participating in exhibitions and forums, as well as strengthening cooperation between enterprises of the two countries, sharing knowledge and skills.
