Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan: trade volume exceeded $1 billion last year

Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov and Minister of Economy and Trade of the Kyrgyz Republic Daniyar Amangeldiev held talks on January 11.
The sides are preparing for bilateral events scheduled for 2023, including at a high level, as well as means to be implemented, including joint projects to be implemented at the expense of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund.
As noted, over the past 5 years, the volume of mutual trade has increased sixfold, from $167.5 million in 2016 to $953.6 million in 2021. In 2022, the trade volume will exceed 1 billion dollars.
The dialogue highlighted the importance of further intensifying cooperation in a number of priority areas. In particular, in accordance with the signed documents, an agreement has been reached to accelerate the implementation of projects on construction of the Kambarotinsk Hydroelectric Power Station-1 and the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway in Kyrgyzstan and implementation of these projects.
Also, projects on organization of production of cars and commercial vehicles in Kyrgyzstan, launch of spinning mill in Jalal-Abad region, introduction and production of electricity metering system ASKUE, production of calcium carbide have been discussed.
