Uzbekistan-Saudi Arabia: cooperation in the field of Agriculture

In preparation for the state visit of the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Minister of investments and foreign trade Jamshid Khodjaev held talks with the minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrakhman Al – Fadli.

The focus of attention of the parties was the current issues and prospects for expanding cooperation in the field of Agriculture.

The Uzbek side proposed specific directions in which the experience of Saudi Arab partners is planned to be involved. In particular, the word went about projects to introduce innovations in the agrarian sphere and improve the education system. An agreement was reached to establish cooperation between the National Center for knowledge and innovation in Agriculture of Uzbekistan (AKIS) and the National Research Center for Sustainable Agriculture of Saudi Arabia in order to activate the cooperation of all research institutes within the sphere.

At the end of the negotiations, the parties agreed to unite efforts to involve Saudi companies in the development of joint projects with Uzbekistan. This will undoubtedly provide a good opportunity for the production of high-quality agricultural products in Uzbekistan and subsequent export to Saudi Arabia.
