Uzbekistan-Singapore: Plans for cooperation in education and medicine discussed

As part of the visit of Uzbekistan's government delegation to Singapore, meetings with business circles and heads of leading institutions of higher education continue. On January 12, Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Mr.Laziz Kudratov held negotiations with Mr.Manraj Sekhon, CEO of Franklin Templeton.

On the agenda were discussed medium- and long-term measures to attract major investors to the economy of Uzbekistan.

Timothy Kwan, CEO of Virtus Health Singapore, discussed the prospects of establishing reproductive health centres for women in Tashkent, Samarkand and Ferghana regions on the principles of public-private partnership.

On the day, meetings were held with Henry Khan, Director General of Nanyang Polytechnic University. The sides discussed agreements on enhancing cooperation in training medical personnel. As of late December 2022, 23 Uzbek specialists have undergone advanced training courses in healthcare management at the university. Starting from March 1, 2023, a series of new courses in areas such as "medical engineering" and "information technology" are planned to be launched.

Nanya Yuliati, deputy director of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, discussed prospects for cooperation in the training and professional development of civil servants in Uzbekistan.

The talks provided an opportunity to present specific investment cases, elaborate on joint plans and show the willingness of the parties to expand cooperation on a broader scale.
