Uzbekistan to resume electricity supplies to Afghanistan

From January 25 this year it is planned to resume electricity supplies from Uzbekistan to Afghanistan. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

"Since January 14 this year, due to a sharp drop in air temperature in the country had problems with the supply of fuel at thermal power plants, namely the lack of fuel and various malfunctions, and were temporarily suspended electricity supplies to Afghanistan in order to provide consumers with stable electricity," the report said.

It is noted that this force majeure situation has been warned by the Afghanistan Power Organization.

As a reminder, electricity produced in Uzbekistan and intended for domestic consumption is not exported.

Part of the electricity import practice, which is carried out in accordance with the intergovernmental agreement, is exported to Afghanistan (in accordance with the signed agreements).
