Uzbekistan-Turkiye: prospects for the development of trade and economic relations

First Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. Laziz Kudratov met with Deputy Minister of Trade of the Republic of Turkiye Mr. Uzgur Volkan Agar and discussed current state and prospects of trade and economic relations between two countries.

Exchanging views on the positive growth trend of bilateral trade, the sides expressed readiness to take comprehensive measures to expand the nomenclature and increase the volume of bilateral trade, including by intensifying the ratification of the "Preferential Trade Agreement", removing barriers and obstacles to trade, simplifying customs procedures for trade transactions and the introduction of digital solutions in this area.

As it was noted, a number of additional bilateral and multilateral measures to develop mutual trade can be taken in the framework of the Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, which is expected to be held in 2022 in Samarkand, and the 3rd meeting of the Joint Customs Council, which is scheduled to be held in Uzbekistan in the coming months.

Prospects of implementing practical measures on developing transport infrastructure, diversifying routes and increasing the volumes of direct and transit freight traffic between the two states were considered. The parties agreed to strengthen interaction to support positive dynamics in the transport and logistics sphere.
