Uzbekistan-UAE: prospects for investment cooperation

On August 29, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Minister of investments and foreign trade Jamshid Khodjaev held talks with the minister of energy and infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates Suhail Mohammed Al Mazroui in the form of video conferencing.

During the negotiations, large-scale issues of investment relations between the two countries were discussed, as well as practical aspects of interaction in the main areas of strategic partnership and the implementation of joint projects.

The parties noted with satisfaction the rapidly developing cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, as well as in the areas of traditional and alternative energy, logistics, health, agriculture and tourism.

During the negotiations, the prospects for the development of mutual cooperation in the field of investment were discussed. As noted, today the joint investment portfolio consists of 17 projects with a total value of about $ 3 billion.

The results of the activities of the Joint Investment Company Uzbekistan-UAE, the declared capital of which is $ 1 billion, were highly appreciated. The company has absorbed more than 100 million dollars today. Also, the importance of the privatization of the existing blocks of the Talimardjan TPP by the companies Mubadala and Taka of the United Arab Emirates and the implementation of the project for the construction of new energy blocks on the basis of it was noted. In this regard, the deadlines for preparing for the signing of legal agreements in Tashkent were discussed.
