Vladimir Norov held a meeting with the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organisation

Today, November 7, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov held a meeting with Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili.
Z. Pololikashvili highly appreciated the systemic measures taken in Uzbekistan to improve tourism infrastructure, preserve and reconstruct historical monuments and create comfortable conditions for travelers.
For UNWTO Uzbekistan is one of the leading partners, and the organization has expressed willingness to boost all-round relations with the republic. Highly appreciating role of Uzbekistan in strengthening international cooperation in tourism, the agency recognizes the policies pursued by our country to revive the Great Silk Road, stimulate interregional tourism in Central Asia, develop regional tourism programmes and increase tourist flows through the creation of cross-border routes.
Particular attention is paid to interaction in the field of education. Proposals on making the International Silk Road Tourism University in Samarkand a regional training centre for tourism specialists, on holding the forum of rectors of tourism universities of UNWTO member states, on creation together with UNWTO of a network of research institutions were considered.
Organisational aspects of the preparation for the 25th session of the General Assembly of the UNWTO in 2023 in Samarkand were considered.
