Zakat, Fitr and Fidya amounts announced

The decision of the Fatwa Committee of the Administration of Muslims of Uzbekistan on the amount of zakat nisab, charity al-fitr and fidayah for the year 2023 has been adopted.

Nisab of zakat for gold is 85 grams, and taking into account that to date the average price of one gram of gold of 585 standard is 420,000 (four hundred twenty thousand) soums, nisab of zakat this year is 35,700,000 (thirty-five million seven hundred thousand) soums. A person who has these or more funds allocates one-fortieth (2.5 per cent) of the total amount and distributes it to the poor and needy for the purpose of zakat.

Sadaqa-fitr is an amount based on the prices of the following products:

2 kg of wheat (12,000 soum);

4 kg of barley (20,000 sums);

2 kg of sultanas - sultanas (100 thousand sums);

4 kg of persimmons (180,000 sums).

The amount of fidya is similar to the amount of sadaqa-fitr.

"It is enough for everyone to give sadaqa-fitr of any kind of these four products according to their abilities. These prices are determined on the basis of prices in the city of Tashkent, each province determines the sadaqa-fitr according to the price in their markets," the Muslim Board said in a statement.
