The first electricity from a solar photovoltaic plant was transferred to the grid

On August 27, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Karmaninsky district of Navoi region. The launch ceremony of the first large-scale solar photovoltaic plant in Uzbekistan took place.
With a design cost of 110 million US dollars, the capacity of this station is 100 megawatts. A tender for its construction was announced among potential companies in 2019. The winner of the competition was the company of the United Arab Emirates Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company-Masdar, which offered the cheapest tariff – 2679 US dollars for 1 kilowatt-hour of electricity.
The station will produce 252 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, which will provide electricity to more than 30 thousand homes in the region.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Uzbekistan Said Al-Kemzi spoke at the ceremony, noting that this major project is the fruit of close cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UAE.
