New banknotes will be issued

The Central Bank will issue banknotes in denominations of 5,000 (five thousand) soums and 10,000 (ten thousand) soums of a new design. This was reported by the press service of the Senate.

On August 19, a meeting of the Kengash of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis took place. It was decided to convene the eighteenth plenary session of the Senate on August 26, 2021. During the meeting, issues were announced to be considered at the plenary session, including the banknote.

"At the meeting of the Council, the issue of the Central Bank's issue of banknotes in denominations of 5,000 (five thousand) soums and 10,000 (ten thousand) soums of a new sample was considered," the Senate said in a statement.

Recall that in June 2013, the Central Bank introduced into circulation banknotes in denominations of 5 thousand soums, in March 2017 - 10 thousand soums.
