Oscar -2021: "The Land of the Nomads" - the best film, Chloe Zhao - the best director.
“Nomadland" was announced as a Best Film, and its director Chloe Zhao was awarded a Gold Statuette for Best Director. She became the first female US representative of racial minorities to receive an Oscar for Best Director, and only the second ever female Oscar winner for Best Director. The first was Katherine Bigelow, who won this award in 2009 for The "Hurt Locker".
“Nomadland" tells the story of a widowed woman who decided to live in a van while traveling across America. Frances McDormand received an Oscar for Best Actress.
Oscar for Best Actor goes to 83-year-old Anthony Hopkins, who played the dementia hero in “The Father”.
Sir Anthony Hopkins became the oldest actor in history to receive an Oscar for a leading role. Film critics predicted that Chadwick Boseman should be awarded as a best actor for his play in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”. He died last August of cancer at 43.
