Aviation Reforms in Uzbekistan

On April 19 of this year, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the measures taken to transform the joint stock companies "Uzbekistan airways" and "Uzbekistan airpots"

The presented projects were aimed at transforming local airlines.  It is planned to reduce the costs of Uzbekistan Airways by $ 46.5 million by optimizing the staff of the company and its structural organizations, separating out of 12 unused aircraft, reducing the commission of foreign agents for the sale of air tickets.

A hybrid service model is going to be established, according to which part of the flights will be carried out on the principle of full service, and some on the principle of low-cost airline. Business class will be canceled on destinations that are not in high demand, with an increase in seats in a lower class.

From the third quarter of this year, it is planned to establish low-cost flights on 4 Airbus A-320 aircraft. For the development of long-haul routes,  3 Airbus А321 NEO LR airliners is to lease to increase the number of domestic flights from the current 17 to 49 per week.

In order to improve the efficiency of the Uzbekistan Airports Joint Stock Company, it was proposed to unite all 11 airports into the management of a single governing body.

For financial stability it is aimed to reduce costs from 32 to 15 percent, optimize purchases, reduce airport tax by 27 percent, including up to 50 percent within the framework of pilgrimage tourism.

After the presentation, the head of state gave instructions on the development of airport infrastructure, increasing passenger and cargo traffic. The air harbor is the most important part of the country. A well-established and efficient system of operation of airports and airlines will increase the tourist potential of our country, as well as promote the development of trade.
