13th meeting of Uzbekistan-India intergovernmental commission
On July 28 of this year, the 13th meeting of the Uzbekistan-India Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation was held in Delhi. The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khodjaev and the Minister of Railways, Trade and Industry of the Republic of India Piyush Goyal.
During the dialogue, the current state of bilateral cooperation in the trade-economic, investment, transport and logistics and cultural-humanitarian spheres and the prospects for its development were discussed. It was agreed to speed up the negotiation of the draft Preferential Trade Agreement between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of India as part of the activation of joint work to increase the trade turnover to 1 billion dollars.
Mechanisms for expanding industrial cooperation and investment cooperation were considered. At the moment, more than 85 joint projects with a total value of more than 3 billion dollars have been implemented in Uzbekistan with Indian partners in education, IT technologies, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, construction materials, textile production and other fields.
During the event, prospects for strengthening interdependence in terms of transport were discussed as an important condition for further expansion of trade-industrial cooperation. Also, within the framework of the "North-South" initiative, in order to increase the volume of direct and transit cargo transportation, develop practical mechanisms for the development of logistics infrastructure, regional network of multimodal transport corridors, the meeting of the ministers of transport of India - Central Asia agreed to transfer.
At the end of the event, the protocol of the 13th meeting of the Uzbekistan-India Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was signed. The decisions and agreements reached during the event were expressed in it.
