14th meeting of Uzbek-Iranian intergovernmental commission took place in Tehran

The 14th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran took place in Tehran.

The meeting was co-chaired by S. Umurzakov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Said Rizo Fatimi Amin, Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The event was also participated by heads of key ministries and departments of the two countries.

The agenda of the meeting encompassed the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in investment, trade, economic, transport and logistics, cultural and humanitarian spheres, and identified further measures to intensify bilateral correlation in the above-mentioned areas.

While canvassing commercial and economic cooperation, the parties noted the positive trends in this area. In particular, since the beginning of 2022, the positive dynamics of Uzbek-Iranian trade has been restored.

An agreement was reached to establish a joint subcommittee on transport and logistics on the intergovernmental commission platform. It was also agreed that the transport authorities of the two countries will launch a joint "Road Map", which will include specific measures and deadlines for the implementation of these proposals.

In addition, business missions consisting of heads of administrations of industrialized regions of Iran will be organized in Uzbekistan to scrutinize the investment and production potential and address practical aspects of cooperation.
