A city on an asteroid: science fiction

A city built on an asteroid. This is science fiction, but it is noted that according to a study conducted by the University of Rochester, scientists have proposed building a city inside an asteroid.

When asked "How do you build a city on an asteroid?", "There are many materials available in one form or another. The biggest challenge is to apply these materials at the scale we are looking for," replied Peter Miklawcic, a PhD candidate in engineering at the University of Rochester and one of the authors of the project.

According to sources, the project is named Habitat Bennu after an asteroid discovered in 1999. The study says that not only Bennu, but other asteroid with a diameter of 300 meters or more will be suitable for building cities.

Scientists say that asteroids can be seen not only as future habitats but also as a spaceport for interplanetary travel. Studying them requires engineering advances that do not exist today. But in terms of physics, such a project is quite possible.
