A state of emergency has been declared in New York due to monkeypox

The governor of the state of New York, Cathy Khochul, declared a state of emergency due to the outbreak of monkeypox. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a total of 5,189 cases of monkeypox have been identified in the United States, including 1,345 in New York.
"After learning of the latest information about the monkeypox outbreak in New York State, I am declaring a state of disaster emergency to increase our proactive efforts to combat it," Khochul said.
According to him, every fourth case of monkeypox in the USA is in New York. The governor noted that the local government is working to increase the supply of the vaccine and expand testing opportunities.
The decree aims to expand the scope of persons entitled to the monkeypox vaccine, including emergency workers, pharmacists and midwives.
