Activist Blogger Jailed for Video about «Non-halal» Yogurts

Blogger Khozhiakbar Nasyrov, known as Activist, was arrested in Tashkent for 15 days. The Tashkent police department announced the reason for his detention and prosecution.
It is reported that in April of this year, a video was distributed on social networks in which a blogger, known under the pseudonym Activist, said that some yogurts sold in supermarkets are not halal, as they contain "carmine".
"It turned out that the author of this video is a resident of Tashkent, Hojiakbar Nasyrov, born in 1997," the police department said in a statement.
The author of the video, based on personal religious views, without obtaining an appropriate expert opinion, stated that the use of some yogurts is haram.
According to article 25 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, everyone has the right to freedom and personal inviolability, as well as, according to article 27, the right to protection from attacks on his honor and dignity, interference in his private life. Violation of the above guarantees of citizens of Uzbekistan is not allowed. In particular, interference in the private life of citizens by giving a religious tone to various issues on their own initiative is not allowed, the police department reported.
In addition, according to article 10 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Freedom of Conscience and religious organizations", the preparation and dissemination of religious content materials in the country is carried out after receiving a positive conclusion of religious expertise.
During the investigation of this case, an administrative protocol was drawn up against Khozhiakbar Nasyrov.
The Shaikhantakhur District Criminal Court sentenced the blogger to 15 days of administrative arrest.
