ADB to provide $59 million for the development of four cities in Uzbekistan

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $59 million loan and a $500,000 grant to improve living conditions and economic competitiveness in the cities of Jizzakh, Khovos, Khiva and Yangiyer in Uzbekistan.
The funds will be used to build a new public park, including a multifunctional community centre in Khiva with a common greenway, and a two-storey visitor centre in Khiva, which will house Uzbekistan's number one Silk Road-themed museum.
The project also supports the development of water networks using environmentally friendly water-saving technologies in Jizzakh and the improvement of solid waste management in all four cities. In addition, ADB is providing a $500,000 grant for the creation of a digital museum.
