Afghanistan establishes special Women's Unit of the Ministry of Interior

In Afghanistan, the Taliban government has begun recruiting women into one of the Ministry of Interior's public security units. The women reportedly received special training at a police academy in Kabul.
According to TACC, this was reported by Afghan television channel Ariana News.
Reports indicate that some of the new female police officers are encouraging women who previously served in law enforcement agencies to gradually return to their duties. The channel cites "the need to perform tasks that male police officers cannot perform" as the reason for creating the women's squad.
