Afghanistan's debt for electricity amounted to $ 62 million

Afghanistan's debt for electricity to neighboring countries is about 62 million US dollars, according to the Afghan Energy Corporation DABS.

It is noted that the corporation has sent letters to neighboring exporting countries from which it buys electricity (Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Iran) promising to pay the debt and asking them not to turn off the electricity.

DABS also appealed to the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan to help with debt relief. If they refuse to help, the company will have to "put pressure on those Afghans who have not paid their bills, even if they cannot afford it."
