AirPods Lite: Apple is working on a new headphone

According to Haitong International Tech Research analyst Jeff Pu, the company is working on a new AirPods Lite to compete with cheaper wireless headphones.

Information on its specifications is not yet available, but analysts say its price will be low enough to compete with wireless headphones from other well-known Chinese smartphone manufacturers on the market.

With the release of the AirPods 3 in 2021, Apple has kept the previous generation AirPods 2 in shops at $129 and the AirPods 3 at $169. A brand new model in the AirPods range, AirPods Lite, is expected to cost less than $129, possibly $99.

Another prominent Apple analyst, Min Chi Kuo, also confirmed these reports, adding that an updated version of AirPods Max has also been mentioned.

Kuo said that Apple plans to release these new AirPods in the second half of 2024. However, this schedule could also be extended to 2025.
