An international conference on «Dialogue – a pledge of peace» was held in Ashgabat

On December 11, the delegation of Uzbekistan, headed by the chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, took part in the work of the International Conference on “Dialogue – a pledge of peace” held in Ashgabat on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the neutrality of Turkmenistan.

At the event, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs R.Meredov, Deputy Secretary General of the UN, executive secretary of the UN European Economic Commission O.Algaerova, Secretary General of OTS K.Omuraliyev, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General for Afghanistan, head of the United Nations mission for assistance to Afghanistan M.Pottsel, leading women's dialogue members from Central Asian countries, heads of diplomatic corps of foreign countries and representative offices of international organizations in Ashgabat, as well as deputy secretary general of the UN in the format of a video message, head of the Counter-Terrorism Department V.Voronkov and head of the UN office in Geneva T.Valovaya, as well as high-ranking representatives of other prestigious international organizations, took part.

At the opening of the conference, R.Meredov noted that the country's neutrality is based on the long-standing peace-loving and humane traditions of the Turkmen people, and Turkmenistan's initiative for dialogue as a guarantee of peace has introduced a new, philosophical paradigm into interstate relations.

UN Secretary-General A.Guterres address, read and heard to the conference participants, emphasized that the UN and its specialized agencies will continue to support the global efforts and initiatives of the Central Asian states to ensure peace and security, sustainable development in general.

Representatives of international organizations participating in the conference highly recognized central Asian regional cooperation, which demonstrates consistency and effectiveness in making constructive decisions, noted that there are few such examples in the world community.

Chairman Of The Senate Of The Oliy Majlis Of The Republic Of Uzbekistan T.Narbayeva took part in her speech, noting that bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan were characterized by centuries-old friendship of fraternal peoples, a strategic partnership in the spirit of good neighborliness and mutual support. Dialogue based on common political will and high level of trust is the main guarantee of further strengthening of Uzbek-Turkmen relations.
