April 7 - World Health Day

It was on this date in 1948 that the World Health Organization (WHO) began its work. WHO is a leading United Nations health agency with 194 member states.

Uzbekistan became a member of the WHO on May 25, 1992. The organization's representative office in Uzbekistan has been operating since 1993.

Health Day has been a tradition since 1950. On World Health Day, a number of advocacy programs are developed to educate the public about the importance of health in human life. The events will be held under the slogans "Activity is the way to longevity", "Protect health from climate change", "1000 cities - 1000 lives", "Urbanization and health" and other global issues.

Last year, the slogan was "Building a Fair, Healthy World" to fight the spread of coronavirus infection. This time, officials have decided to draw the world's attention to the urgent need to take action in the face of the ongoing pandemic, the growing global environmental crisis, cancer, asthma and heart problems. Thus, the WHO called 2022 "Our planet, our health."
