It was on August 23 that the world's first web server became publicly available

On August 23, 1991, the World Wide Web was founded and the British scientist Tim Berners-Lee, a CERN employee, provided public access to the world's first web server.
In early August 1991, Berners-Lee invented his first web server based on a NeXT computer, then released it to the public on August 23, marking the founding date of the World Wide Web.
The world's first website and first server can now be found at info.cern.ch.
