Boxing: two representatives of Uzbekistan in the semifinals of the world championship

Our compatriots Abdumalik Khalakov and Madiyar Saidrakhimov won at least a bronze medal at this world championship

All semi-finalists of the amateur boxing world championship, which is taking place in Belgrade, Serbia, have been determined. It is noteworthy that two of our representatives entered this stage of the competition.

In the weight category -60 kg, Abdumalik Khalakov from Bukhara brought our team the first ticket to the semifinals. Our boxer Madiyar Saidrakhimov, who entered the ring on Tuesday evening in weight -92 kg, also successfully passed the quarterfinal round and reached the semifinals. At this stage, he fought the Englishman Lewis Williams and won a landslide victory.

Unfortunately, the rest of our boxers could not overcome the quarterfinal barrier. In particular, in the -63.5 kg weight category, our boxer Mujibillo Tursunov entered the ring against Cuban Andy Cruz in the semifinals and, despite an equal fight with the reigning Olympic champion, eventually missed the chance.

In the -75 kg weight category, our compatriot Saijamshid Jafarov in the quarterfinals won with a big advantage over the Thai Viparon Chongjoho. However, in the end, the judges gave the victory to the Thai boxer.

Finally, a boxer weighing +92 kg, the standard-bearer of our national team Lazizbek Mullajonov fought at this stage against David Chaloyan from Armenia and lost with a score of 2: 3.

We wish our boxers who made it to the semifinals good luck in the upcoming fights.
