Britain unveils coins featuring the portrait of King Charles III

Britain's Royal Mint has unveiled the first two coins depicting the new King Charles III. It is noted that a coin of 50 pence with the portrait of the monarch, is expected to be released on October 3.
It is reported that the image on the coins has been personally approved by the monarch. The coin depicts Charles III facing left, which is not in keeping with centuries-old tradition (Elizabeth II is depicted facing right). At the same time, Charles III is shown on the coins without the crown.
The Royal Mint will begin selling the first Charles III coins to collectors from early next week. The new coins will be released before the end of the year on demand from banks and post offices, along with old coins issued during the reign of Elizabeth II.
The head of the Royal Mint said the coins have been in circulation for an average of 20 years.
From early 2023, the Mint will begin minting all other coins (in denominations ranging from one pence to two pounds sterling) featuring the new king, and they will look the same as the first 50 pence.
