China is building a science fiction 'alien' museum

Renowned architecture firm Zaha Hadid Architects has been commissioned to build a science fiction museum in China. According to the design, the museum will have an interior area of 59,000 square metres. It will include exhibition spaces, conference rooms, event spaces, galleries, theatres, as well as office space and a large central atrium.

The schematic design of the future building lives up to its name - the 'flowing' roof forms, portals and energy fields should attract visitors from all over the world.

The museum will also be landscaped with native plants and trees. A rainwater harvesting system will be integrated into the lake and become an integral part of Chengdu's flood prevention system.

Large panoramic windows allow maximum daylight penetration and natural ventilation maintains a comfortable temperature with minimum energy consumption. Solar panels installed on the museum's surrealistic roof provide electricity.
