Citizens of Uzbekistan and Turkiye to be allowed to serve their sentences in their homeland

On 15 February this year President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law on ratification of the intergovernmental agreement on transfer of prisoners with Turkiye.

It should be recalled that this law was passed by the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis in October last year, and in December it was considered and approved by the Senate. The agreement was signed on March 30, 2022 during the official visit of President of the Republic of Turkiye to Uzbekistan.

This document allows citizens of Uzbekistan and Turkiye to serve their sentences in their home countries. The adoption of this law serves to strengthen our country's positive image in the international arena and to better protect the rights and interests of citizens.
