Coal reserves of Uzbekistan amounted to 2 billion tons

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of projects aimed at expanding the production of coal and uranium.
It is noted that over the past five years, coal production has increased from 4 million tons to 5 million 300 thousand tons per year.
Estimated coal reserves in Uzbekistan are about 2 billion tons. The head of state set the task of effectively using this potential and consistently increasing the volume of coal production.
It is noted that this year the modernization project of JSC "Shargunkomir" will be completed. In turn, the production capacity of high-quality coal will increase to 900,000 tons.
The President pointed to the possibility of further expanding the production of high-quality coal through the development of the Shargun and Boysun mines. He stressed the need to attract investors to these mines and implement new projects.
Also, on July 14, 2022, measures were determined to increase uranium production by 2 times to 7.1 thousand tons by 2030 at the Navoiyuran State Enterprise.
Information was provided on projects implemented jointly with the French company Orano Mining.
It is noted that within the framework of this cooperation, the President gave instructions on projects to improve the efficiency of uranium mining and processing, and to identify additional new deposits.
