Cultural treasures of Samarkand surprised Emine Erdogan

The wife of the President of Turkiye, Emine Erdogan, who attended the SCO summit in our country with her husband, visited the city of Samarkand with the wife of the President of Uzbekistan, Ziroat Mirziyoyeva.

Emine Erdogan wrote about this on her Instagram page. The lady said that she was surprised by the cultural treasures of ancient Samarkand.

“In the ancient city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan, we visited the Konigil paper factory with Mrs. Ziroat Mirziyoyeva. The adventures of the Samarkand paper, which has been preserved intact for two thousand years, aroused admiration in me,” wrote Emine Erdogan, wife of the President of Turkiye.

“I also had the opportunity to see and get acquainted with the customs of my ancestors, which are still preserved in the museum,” Emine Erdogan comments on his post.

The First Lady of Turkiye also noted that Samarkand has been living for thousands of years as a cultural heritage that unites the West and the East.

During the trip, Ziroat Mirziyoyeva treated Emine Erdogan with Samarkand bread. The ladies also visited a textile factory.
