Discussion of Uzbek-European relations in Brussels

In Brussels, Sardor Umurzakov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, canvassed ways to intensify political and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union with Simon Mordew, Chief Adviser to the President of the Council of Europe on Foreign Policy.
A number of joint events, such as the EU-Central Asia Summit, the EU-Central Asia Ministerial Meeting, and the organization and holding of the EU-Central Asia Tourism Forum were highlighted during the talks. In this regard, it was noted that Uzbekistan enables all the conditions to promote and implement large-scale initiatives aimed at strengthening regional interdependence, ensuring sustainable economic growth and strengthening security in the region.
The issues of cooperation in the framework of Uzbekistan's initiative to join the World Trade Organization were also touched upon. Pursuant to the European side, this initiative will be a paramount step towards Uzbekistan's integration into the world economy and the multilateral trading system.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to accentuate cooperation on existing issues in the areas under consideration.
