Discussion on issues of Uzbek-American cooperation

Today, May 24, 2022, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov met with US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu.

During the negotiations, the sides discussed topical issues of the current multifaceted Uzbek-American cooperation. Significant achievements have been made in bilateral relations and cooperation in the framework of regional partnership, which is worth to be proud.

Particular attention was paid to accentuating cooperation in commerce, economic, investment, transport and logistics. Opportunities for practical cooperation in involving US businesses in projects in Uzbekistan and in implementing joint programs and initiatives to support Uzbek exporters and develop women's entrepreneurship were discussed.

Prospects for expanding cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) were addressed, including the involvement of technical and advisory assistance from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to increase the export potential of green energy, agriculture, youth entrepreneurship, textile industry and other areas.

It was consented to intensify cooperation with the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) on the implementation of private sector projects in promising sectors of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the talks, the US expressed its commitment to continue to support Uzbekistan by providing the necessary technical and advisory assistance in joining the World Trade Organization.

At the end of the meeting, it was consented to continue active dialogue in order to accelerate the advancement of all issues discussed.
