Discussion on measures to accelerate Uzbekistan's accession to the WTO

On June 17, 2022, a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission for Work with the WTO was held under the chairmanship of S. Umurzakov, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The event critically reviewed the process of Uzbekistan's accession to the WTO and the preparations for the 5th meeting of the Working Group on Uzbekistan's accession to the WTO, which will be held on June 21-22, 2022.

Accession of Uzbekistan to the WTO is one of the economic priorities of the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy for 2022-2026. In this regard, it was emphasized that in carrying out this task, it is necessary to use the high potential of educated and qualified personnel of relevant ministries and agencies.

The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan coordinates and regularly monitors the process of preparation for future events.

At the end of the meeting, specific tasks were approved for each member of the negotiating team sent to participate in the 5th meeting of the Working Party on Uzbekistan's accession to the WTO, including measures to intensify the accession negotiations and move to the next stage - the drafting of the Report of the Working Party.
