Dominican man spent 24 days on the high seas without food

According to the Colombian Navy, Elvis Francois, 47, from the Dominican Republic, was stranded on a sailboat in Colombian waters. According to him, other boats were frequently passing by. The man tried to stop them and even made a fire, but nobody noticed him.
"I had no food. I only had a bottle of ketchup, garlic powder and stock cubes. I mixed it all with a little water to survive 24 days at sea," said the video published by François.
François was reportedly out at sea in December 2022 while repairing his sailboat on the Caribbean island of St Maarten when the weather deteriorated.
"As he had no knowledge of navigation, he became lost and disoriented at sea. His attempts to steer the sailboat and the equipment on board were unsuccessful," the report said.
According to François, other boats often passed him by. The Dominican tried to stop them and even made a fire, but no one noticed. As a result, the victim was spotted by an aircraft and handed over to the Colombian Navy.
