Driverless taxis will be launched in China

According to information, driverless taxis are starting to operate in China. However, it is said that the initial movement of taxis will be monitored by cameras for security.

Baidu's unmanned vehicle, called the Apollo 5th generation, has been granted two permits. According to it, taxis can charge for driverless trips in an area of 13 square kilometers from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Wuhan, and from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in an area of 30 square kilometers in Yunchuan District of Chongqing.

Five Apollo-5 vehicles operate in each zone, with remote drivers taking over if the vehicles get into any trouble. The initial movement of taxis is carefully monitored by cameras.

Also, some time ago, the company "Baidu" presented a fully autonomous car of the 6th generation. The Apollo RT6 is priced at 250,000 yuan ($37,095) and will be produced from 2023.
