EBRD will purchase electric buses for Samarkand

Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov received a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) led by Managing Director of the Sustainable Development Group Nandita Parshad and Managing Director for Central Asia Zhuzhanna Hargitai.

EBRD representatives continue to provide financial and advisory support for reforms in priority areas such as energy, infrastructure development.

During the meeting, the high involvement of the EBRD in promoting initiatives aimed at modernizing housing and communal services and infrastructure in the regions, developing the transport sector and the PPP sector was emphasized.

Special attention was paid to the project for the purchase of electric buses for Samarkand, which is being implemented within the framework of the Green Cities program.
The parties also discussed issues on the construction of high-voltage power lines in the Khorezm and Bukhara regions, the project will be the first project of the EBRD in Uzbekistan.

An agreement was reached on cooperation in institutional development and capacity building of the Agency for International Cooperation and Development under the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan - the EBRD will send expert groups to conduct seminars on procurement procedures and provide technical and advisory support to the Agency in the field of public investment management assessment.
