Education cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey

On January 24, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan S.Umurzakov received a delegation of the Council of Higher Education of the Republic of Turkey led by Chairman of the Council E.Uzvar. The event was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Uzbekistan O. Bekar and representatives of the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Turkey.
During the meeting, the sides canvassed issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of higher education. In particular, measures were taken to accelerate the establishment of the Uzbek-Turkish University in Uzbekistan with the participation of leading Turkish educational institutions. The agreement was reached in August 2020 during a visit of a delegation of the Government of Uzbekistan to Ankara. The parties agreed to take further steps in this direction and agree on existing issues in the short run.
Other achievements in the scope of education were also noted. Particularly, the Tashkent branch of the Turkish University of Economics and Technology and the faculty of the Turkish University of Medical Sciences, launched under the Bukhara State Medical Institute, are successfully operating.
They expressed mutual alacrity to expand bilateral cooperation. In this regard, the contingency of establishing new branches of leading Turkish educational institutions in the regions of Uzbekistan in the domains of engineering, art, medicine, agriculture and tourism was considered. Prospects for deepening cooperation in the exchange of faculty, researchers and students were also addressed.
In this regard, an agreement was reached to elaborate the skills of researchers and proliferate the level of knowledge and skills of students, as well as to organize lectures, workshops, interactive seminars and trainings between the universities of the two countries.
