Education issues were discussed with the OECD

On April 10-13, the First Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade A.Voitov held talks with Andreas Schleicher, Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on Education Policy and Director of the Department of Education and Skills.

Andreas Schleicher visited our country to prepare for international research in the field of education and to ensure the participation of Uzbekistan in it.
The purpose of the visit is to get acquainted with the work carried out in Uzbekistan under the International Student Assessment Program (PISA) and to expand prospects for future cooperation with the OECD.

During the meeting, the issues of quality control of education, measures for the implementation of the PISA program, the use of knowledge by students, special assistance in solving practical problems in the field of economics and industry were discussed.

The meeting also discussed mechanisms to ensure greater access to educational services, improve their quality and improve the functioning of the national education system, including through the OECD's targeted programs to attract additional investment in this area.

For reference: The International Student Assessment Program (PISA) aims to assess the literacy of 15-year-olds in reading, math, and science using a variety of tests. The project assesses young people's ability to think creatively and critically, to apply their knowledge in practice, and to develop these skills.
