Elections and Gender: International and National Practices for Supporting Women in Politics

The Central Election Commission, together with UNDP in Uzbekistan, have prepared a series of training seminars "Elections and Gender: International and National Practices for Supporting Women in Politics".
This project activity is aimed at providing assistance during the election campaign of 2021 and includes activities to increase the capacity of the CEC and other stakeholders to ensure transparency and inclusiveness of the electoral process, support the more active participation of women, youth and people with disabilities in elections.
Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan Z. Nizamkhodzhaev, Ambassador of Switzerland to the Republic of Uzbekistan K. Obolensky, UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan M. Dimovska, First Deputy Minister for Support of Mahalla and Family G. Marufov took part in the ceremony of launching a series of training seminars.
25 laws have been adopted in this area. Institutional mechanisms have been created that represent a unified system for ensuring women's rights and gender equality: the Committee for Women and Gender Equality under the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republican Public Council of Women, the Ministry of Mahalla and Family Support, and others.
