FAO Director-General highly prises modern progress in our country

On 19 September 2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov met with Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Qu Dongyu in New York on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.

V. Norov noted that Uzbekistan sees the FAO as an important global multilateral platform for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Recent years have been a period of unprecedented activation of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the FAO. As a result of joint efforts, portfolio of FAO in Uzbekistan has reached 59 national, regional and global projects worth a total of $65 million. Our country has successfully chaired the 32nd FAO Regional Conference for Europe, for the first time in the history of the Central Asian region. The importance of comprehensive implementation of the Framework signed between Uzbekistan and the FAO to support the implementation of the Agricultural Development Strategy of Uzbekistan for 2020-2030 was noted.

Qu Dongyu supported the initiative put forward by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the SCO Summit in Samarkand to hold an International Conference on Food Security in 2023. The FAO Director-General praised the country's current progress.
